I LOVE AIRPORTS! Especially this one in Boston.. I think they really nailed the vibes here. SO LIMINAL - I say - SO BACKROOMS LIMINAL VIBES SPACE!- I love wholeheartedly the places we construct so intricately and with such intent - yet are designed to not be paid any mind by the temporary occupants. Many have spoken on the awe that arises from the sense of 'non-space' generated by subway stations and hotels, and basically any places humans build where they're not supposed to live in. There is little I can contribute of substance to this well explored phenomenon except to say that Boston-Logan international airport felt like every airport dream I've ever had all at once, and that it is the archetypal airport.
That being said, this shit totally sucked and airports suck and I hate them.. This industry is run by a ruthless cartel which regularly colludes to provide the absolute worst possible experience to every single one of their overcharged customers by any means necessary. The airport is a prison. I walked throughout (almost) all the terminals and maze-like parking garages and concourses in this airport, trying to find a pedestrian exit from the airport to no avail. The only way out of here is to take a vehicle of some kind, so they make all the food more expensive, what are you gonna do, leave? $18 Taco fuck you. Since 9/11 everybody has to get molested by security to get on a plane, and once on the plane must be subjected to hundreds of LED screens on every seat covertly advertising things to you, and there’s ads in the airport, and there’s ads on the side of the plane, and there’s ads on our clothes, ads behind the eyelids, in your mind.
It’s amazing to see people from all over the world – It sucks to see them all agitated by inhuman systems. It’s really cool to see gargantuan infrastructure and human ingenuity – It’s lame to see it used to corral and subjugate. Much like theme parks, very fun going on the rides but hate waiting in the lines. Amazing that you can get food on a plane – but what’s the deal with it? Airline food I mean. Mix bag, the airpot
